+ Where are the JCC summer camps located?

The Day Camp @ the JCC and Summer Stock Theater Camp are located in The Samuel Priest Rose Building on Amsterdam Avenue at 76th Street. The 11-story state-of-the-art building is home to 2 pools, a gymnasium, art studios, a rooftop playground and more.

The Day Camp @ Pearl River is located at the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds, just 20 minutes from the George Washington Bridge, in Pearl River, NY. This lush green site is host to swimming, yoga, the arts, sports and more.

+ Who are your staff?

We hire a fun, loving, responsible staff of young men and women to work with our children. Each of them has incredible experience working with children and participates in extensive training before the summer begins. Staff includes bunk counselors, specialists, unit heads and directors. Each of them has a love for children and a commitment to our camp goals.

+ How many children and staff are in each group?

Depending on the age of the children, there is an average of 14-18 campers, and 4 counselors per group.Each unit is comprised of 4 or 5 groups, supervised by a unit head. Our staff also includes a number of specialists and administrators.

+ Tell me about your swim programs.

We understand the importance of learning to swim and the developmental needs of each of the children. Campers are encouraged by our Water Safety Instructors and certified Lifeguards to try new experiences in the water. At the Day Camp @ the JCC, the 3-year- olds swim 3 times per week, and 4 through 6-year-olds swim at least 4 times per week. Each camp uses the Red Cross Learn to Swim assessment and ongoing curriculum.

+ Do the campers go on trips throughout the summer?

Children over the age of 5 go on trips in and around Manhattan. All travel is on air-conditioned buses. Past trips have included the New York Botanical Garden, the New York Hall of Science, Liberty Science Center, the Brooklyn Children’s Museum and an awesome carnival day at the Day Camp @ Pearl River.

+ What other activites do you offer?

The JCC Summer Camps have varied daily schedules, and each offers a balance of active options for children. Programs include sports, ceramics, cooking, Jewish life, playground, nature, music, and so much more. Children age 5 and up are also given a chance to choose a portion of their daily schedule, encouraging them to try something new and giving them the opportunity to make new friends

+ What makes the JCC summer camps different from other camps?

Each child is treated as an individual and provided with a unique and enjoyable summer experience. The JCC Summer Camps offer children a chance to learn and grow, to try new activities and to make new friends. There is a tremendous RUACH (spirit) in each of our camps that generates warmth, care and love. Our staff is a remarkable group of individuals – experienced, thoughtful and responsible. We create a camp experience that fosters a true sense of community.

Friend requests can be made. Each child is able to make 1 request. We can guarantee 1 mutual request per camper.
